2022 Corolla Cross HPL PP 0W-8 30k mi OCI

I am guessing that my driving profile would not work for a long OCI?
Most of my driving is for 10 miles in 20 minutes of average 30 mph, twice a day for 3 days a week. I drive maybe 10K miles a year spread over 3 cars.

Does anyone think I could safely use HPL engine oil for extended OCI’s? I guess that UOA’s will be necessary to determine just how long I could safely run such oils? My biggest concern is the Mazda Miata since I don’t drive it during the winter months when there is salt spread on the roads. The current oil is HPL 10w30 CK4 in the oil sump. It is about 3 years old, but has only about 2000 miles of service. I just haven’t driven this car enough..

I don’t want to waste this oil.

3 years is extended and I'll bet you this oil can safely be in this car for at least 5 years, maybe more. I've had a couple OCIs of 3 years and lots of miles and the oil was still serviceable. We have a $30,000 engine in a tractor that when I sample the engine oil next spring it will have 3 years and about 400 hours. I'll bet you we end up running the oil to at least 4 years in a very expensive engine.

Do an oil analysis and take all the guessing away.

A friend of mine just bought a Corolla about a week ago, and didn't even know 0W-8 oil existed. I figured I would have a look here at BITOG, and found this amazing thread, thanks. I'll send this info to my friend. As a side note, HPL really needs a less generic name. Web search for "high performance lubricants" and you'll get hits on all kinds of stuff.

Thank you.
Signed, OP.

When I see the beautiful "High Performance Lubricants" logo on yet another champion's racing machine, I know that the name stands for exactly what it says it does.

FWIW in about a month, I will do another oil change on my 2024 Corolla Cross Hybrid.

This will be the start of the third ~ 30k mile OCI on this vehicle, with nothing unusual to report...again.

David Ward and I agreed long ago that further UOAs were no longer needed.

Thank you to the folks in Manteno !!
