⚠️ Need help diagnosing a stubborn vibration – 2021 VW Atlas 3.6 V6 4Motion (80,000 km)

– Tires, Axles, Drive2021 VW Atlas 4Motion Vibration at 30 & 100 km/h shaft Replaced, Still Not Fixed

I’ve been chasing a vibration issue for a while now and I’m running out of ideas.

👉 Symptoms:

  • Noticeable vibration around ~30 km/h
  • Also shows up again around ~100 km/h
  • Not constant, comes at specific speeds
  • Feels more in the floor/seat, not really in the steering wheel

👉 What’s already been done (with NO improvement):

  • Winter tires replaced with all-season tires (used but in good condition)
  • Wheels balanced
  • Both front axles replaced
  • Driveshaft replaced
  • Had clicking when turning → fixed after lubrication

❗ Despite all that, the vibration is still exactly the same.

At this point I’m thinking:

  • Wheel hub / bearing?
  • Rotor or hub runout?
  • Something else I’m missing?

Has anyone had this SAME issue where even replacing the driveshaft didn’t fix it? What was the actual root cause?

Appreciate any insight before I keep throwing parts at it.

Have you checked for loose fitting panels or panels with missing fasteners?

Classic frequent complaint by owners of early 2000s Atlas 4Motion. Since you have already done the front axles (with inner and out CV joints I assume), my money is on the carrier bearing for the rear driveshaft, especially since you don't really feel it through the steering wheel. Extra play in the bearing sets up a harmonic vibration right about those speeds you mentioned. Also, does the vibration go away when you lift the accelerator at those speeds?

! @shortyb is on to something. The center bearing support is rubber and cracks or gets soft. Sometimes the metal bracket is just loose where it bolts to the body. Pretty common on German cars and causes a vibration felt in the body, but not in the steering.
