2021 F-150 10 speed.

Gentlemen, my F-150 has the 10 speed A/T jointly developed by GM and Ford. I believe Ford first started using them in 2017, not sure about GM. Ford says to "service" the transmission at 150,000 miles. That seems way to long of an interval to me. What would be a good recommendation? I don't tow or haul anything heavy. No real hard off road use at all either. What exactly does a service consist of?
 
I'd do it way sooner than that.
IMO, with all new(any brand) automatic transmissions, they should be serviced no later than 50K-60K miles and if you can do it sooner at ~30K miles, that'd be even better.
My buddy just had his 2019 replaced. He picked it back up yesterday. It just made the warranty timeframe. However, FORD knows there is an issue with those trannys. I'd have to ask my buddy more about it. There seems to be a design flaw with the tranny that FORD has since fixed but IDK what year they made the change or what the change is.
 
The CDF drum bushing slides and blocks fluid flow causing erratic shifting and eventually transmission failure. I’m at 98k on my 2019 F150 and haven’t had any real issues other than the occasional wonky shift.

I’ve changed the fluid every 30k on mine. Just vacuumed the fluid out of the pan, haven’t changed the filter yet. If it makes it to 150k I’ll change the filter.
 
We have a BUNCH of these in the Transit 250s, '20-'24s-they allegedly fixed the drum issue sometime in '22, but they're dropping left & right. My '21 started with the goofy shifting at around 30,000 miles, Ford stealers don't care-too hard to pull the transmission & replace it under warranty, guess it doesn't pay enough. Had the fluid exchange done around 50K, fluid was black (HAS to be done with a heated fluid exchange machine, at the dealer). Fluid has stayed OK since, but wacky shifting both cold & hot has continued, I've managed to nurse it to 103K now. No idea how long it will last...

The CDF drum is the likely first point of failure. To that end, keeping transmission temps low is known to help.
If it's like the Transit ones, they have a weird stack & plate cooler on the coolant & transmission lines, not in the radiator, that is easily clogged. An external cooler would be a great idea, but the design flaws on the 10R80 are too great to overcome with just a cooler... Ford's lawyers are really busy with these, since the dealers literally do not care about fixing them at all!
 
I’ve never seen the one in my Mustang over 150F and it’s usually quite a bit below that. Seems too cool to me. Car built February 23.
 
My 2024 F150 indicates 208ºF transmission oil temp on long trips. Less on short trips because it never has time to fully warm up. Seems to be thermostatically controlled.
 
No later than 30K for a pan drop and fill. Lubegard Platinum is also showing signs of keeping things healthy.

Won't stop any hard part issues, but keeping the valve body clean is a whole other issue that you can help with.

Aluminum pan with a drain plug helps a bunch in that regard. Makes fluid D&F's a breeze. There's also a thought that they help stabilize the case of the transmission over the normal plastic pan, but I don't have any data on that one.
