yep you hear right. 1 year ago I started my quest of seeing if I could locate a racetrack that was willing to allow our sports tuned suspension on their track for a few laps. I was met with some very harsh resistance claiming the van is too tall to be allowed on the track. yet after many of the races, spectators etc are allowed to drive their taller vans and trucks on the track. what's being lost through the translation is that I don't want to race the van, but drive it at semi normal speeds around the track. it came to the point where the SCCA has banned me from many of their tracks.

Not all was hopeless as I did and finally located a few tracks willing to either allow the van on the track for 4 laps (free or with a small fee) One track in particular is an official testing facility which is located on the east coast. The other track is located on the west coast. it got to the point where we were going to make this our fall vacation. driving from one track to another and seeing the country.

As a member of the autopian community.. I learn that David the main site hosts and editor purchased a Nissan NV200, I submitted a challenge to him and anyone else with a small van to take part in the track to track tour. David decline the offer saying his NV would not survive the long trip or being on a track afterwards.

The track date came and went all because we ran into an issue with the rear shocks allowing the coil springs to pop out.. I wasn't willing to drive the van cross country on any track for that matter.. but according to those tracks that have or are willing to allow us to drive the van on the track, we still have their permission to do so.. but when.

We still have a few more things to attend to and the shock/spring issue has been corrected. Then it's off to my buddy shop where he's going to be installing a new Maxton Design front splitter for the van. Once this date has bene set up we can then contact the tracks and line things up. So if you have or drive a small utility van and want to take part in an official track tour, follow this thread for more details and dates.

most current photos of the van. Visited the UTZ factory store in PA

Track date may fall around Oct this year as we couldn't get to the track before warmer weather set in.. One good thing is that we may actually create a cross country trip out of this driving from one track to another.
