i went to a local car show this weekend. sadly many makers didn't attend (mb, bmw, audi, nissan, kia, volvo). some makers that were present didn't bother to power up their display cars that have powered seats... so i paid $8 to try sitting in cars that i can't adjust the seats?

anyway the hyundai exhibit was well manned and powered up. i was hoping to see the 2019 tucson but it wasn't there. the 2019 hyundai santa fe was there and seems attractive to me. has anyone driven the new santa fe yet? any thoughts on reliability, etc? thanks!

Hey Jstert,

I actually helped my really good friend find one and purchase one. We took multiple test drives and she has owned it just over a month or so. She LOVES it. She went in wanting the top model (Limited) but did not get the turbo. The pick up is great, the engine is quiet, the interior is quiet, she has had a great experience with it so far. Send me a PM if your interested and I am sure she would send you an email or call you with what she likes if you want. It was her retirement gift to herself (41 years) with State Patrol communications.

A friend of mine has had his 2019 Santa Fe Limited since September.
He loves it, and his comments are it rides, handles and goes really well.
I've been in it and I would agree.
He had a 2015 Santa Fe XL before this one, and traded it in, so he's sold on Hyundai.
Good choice in my opinion.

I have a 2018 Limited XL-I believe the 2019's are pretty close mechanically. It's at 20,000 miles and no issues.

My son as a Sonata-it's at 100,000 miles and no issues.

Glad to see those who reply either have one-or knows somebody that does-it's a novel concept on BITOG.

I drove a 2018 and it was superb but I couldn't find it in the trim level with the options I wanted on the time line I had at the time so I didn't end up purchasing one. I think the 2019's are the same mechanically with just some updates to the body styling etc.

If they are 1/2 as good as my '06 Santa Fe you would be in for a good experience for sure. I miss my bulletproof '06, as bland as it was compared to today's Santa Fe's.

The 2019 SantaFe is the old SantaFe Sport. 4 cyl turbo and no 3rd row seat. Much different than the 2018 SantaFe.

The 2019 Santa Fe has Hyundai's HTRAC® All-Wheel-Drive (AWD) system. The HTRAC AWD system was developed as a multi-mode system, providing an electronic, variable-torque-split clutch with active torque control between the front and rear axles. The driver-selectable HTRAC Normal, Sport and Smart modes help provide confident control in all weather conditions. The Sport setting gives a more agile feel by sending more available torque to the rear wheels, for a sporty dynamic feel when desired. This system has a wider range of torque distribution variability than many competitive systems and has been tuned to conditions such as straight-line acceleration, medium- and high-speed cornering, and hill starts.

Hyundai's naming sucks.
2018 had the Santa Fe Sport (5 seater) and the Santa Fe (6/7 seater).

For 2019, the Santa Fe Sport is a complete redesign and is named the Santa Fe.
The 2018 Santa Fe (6/7 seater) is continuing on for 2019 as the Santa Fe XL (same vehicle, just added the XL to differentiate it from the regular Santa Fe) till the mid year release of the 2020 Hyundai Palisade.

I like the look of the new 2019 Santa Fe. Seems to be a really nice vehicle.
I do not feel the same about the Palisade.
