2017 Triumph Trophy SE 5k UOA 10w40 castrol

Here is the UOA I had done earlier in the year, I had since changed with the same 10w40 but I didnt like the shearing. I have considered 10w50 or perhaps 15w50.

Triumph recommends 10w40 or 10w50 only so I have had concerns about T5 or T6 rotella even though I run that literally in all of my dirt bikes and pretty much every other motor.

Considering Maxima 10w50 oil thats built for motorcycles, or Motul, or perhaps M1 10w40.

I ride and live in so cal so the weather is warmer per region so I dont see why I would need to stick with a 10w40

a flash of 440 is pretty darn good. i mean very very good. i have less than a dozen uoa that are above that...out of a sample size of 94.

ha i was just in New Schlitterbraunfels yesterday!

the metals are all from breakin. you should have changed at 1000mi not 5000mi for the 1st. oh well.
 
For sure trying to understand the comment that flashpoint looks bad? That's dang near new oil flashpoint.

At some point, yes, try Mobil 1 10w40 4T and see what you get for viscosity after 5000 miles. My experience with 5000+ mile UOA's from a ZRX1200 4 cylinder shared sump show it does decently better on retained viscosity than the above Castrol 10w40, all with flashpoints in the 410-430 range. Or M1 20w50 V-Twin, see those results in the thread right below this one.

I agree the 440 is great, not sure where I was looking. Might even have been looking at a completely differnt post before hand.
