This experience goes to the argument AGAINST doing repairs / maintenance the morning of the day you take off on a cross country trip.

If you were able to change your own engine oil then why didnt you change the transmission oil yourself too?

A lot of people get freaked out about touching transmission fluid because you have to be pretty much square on when refilling with what came out and the consequences of overfilling are far worse than engine oil. Once you do it, on many cars you get comfortable and realize on most it is easy but a lot of times it’s not as straight forward as an engine oil change.
