My car has the Chinese Built Getrag MT82. This transmission didn’t have a good reputation when it came out in 2011, but it has had a couple of revisions and seems to work great in my car. The only approved fluid is ford dual clutch fluid. Amsoil doesn’t have a recommendation and no one else does that I know of.

Lots of Mustang guys use BG synchro shift 2 and they say it’s excellent. I was pretty set on that choice but there is a guy named Ben Calimer known as the number 1 builder of the MT82. He recommends 2 quarts of Amsoil Synchromesh fluid and 0.7 quarts of the MTL 75w90.

Anyone have a Mustang with this transmission? What fluid are you using?

If it's working without a flaw with the Ford fluid,I'd stick with that,as standard transmissions can be really finicky about the fluid you use in them.

^^This.

The only time I read about home brews are for broken or defective transmissions. Don't do it.

I still have the XT-11-QDC Dual Clutch fluid in mine from the last warranty replacement a couple years ago. I need to change it out again just for piece of mind.

I had Amsoil in the original trans and it felt great until the counter shaft fell out onto the bottom of the case.

Redline has a relatively new DCTF that meets Getrag spec. Its the best fluid out of the half a dozen that I have tried.

Amalie has a DCT fluid with the best price by far

The Ford Fluid is working fine but I suspect it’s not optimal for protection. Car has 8,000 miles. I do like to drain the Factory fill fairly early. I don’t overly abuse the car but it does get beat on from time to time.

The potential of a Warranty issue down the road could be a concern.?. You just never know with these out sourced NWO parts..?. I was glad to find the Redline DCTF and it's Getrag cert. Peace of mind and dang, this stuff works better the hotter the gearbox gets, for mine..

The Motul DCTF meets the Ford specs, but it IS a synthetic blend, and not a full synthetic, if that matters to you at all.

Last time I checked, the Red Line DCTF did NOT meet the Ford DCT spec (neither did the Amsoil DCT fluid), unless they released a new formula in the last month or so, which does.

Why the heck is Ford putting a DCT fluid in a traditional manual trans to begin with!?
😡. I think I’m going to go with BG synchro shift 2 since many say it’s great as far as shift quality. I’m not really concerned with shift quality though. Really just want the best protection. The BG fluid is a 70w80. 7.1 CST @ 100 degrees. Is that thick enough for a Manual trans car with 435hp?

Probably for the very same speculated reasons everyone gives for GM/FCA (and Ford for their previous various manuals) using ATF in their Tremec gearboxes; to have one less tank on the line, and one less product to stock on the shelves, and in the service department at the dealers.
Ford offers, and sells MANY MANY MORE units of DCT equipped vehicles than it will EVER sell of manual equipped ones.

I will take my 'warranty chances', and install some Ravenol MTF-2 in my Fiesta ST's B6 transaxle this summer (which is VERY close in cSt @ 100*C to the various DCT fluids, but offers MUCH better, GL-4 level, gear, and bearing protection), to replace the Motul Gear 300 GL-4 in there now which replaced the factory Motorcraft DCT fluid.

The DCT fluid has essentially the same formulation as any manual transmission fluid but with a viscosity of approx. 8.x cSt@100C.

The BG Synchroshift II is a good alternative if one needs an 8.x cSt MTF.

I'm still trying to figure this one out myself. I think the spec (WSS-M2C936-A) that Redline DCTF (and Amsoil DCT) claim to meet is for a wet clutch DCT (MSP6). I don't think that was ever sold in the US. The spec the Mustang owners manual calls for (WSS-M2C200-D2) is for the dry clutch DCT (DPS6). I don't know if the differences matter to the MT-82. Motul Multi DCFT and BG Syncro Shift II claim to meet WSS-M2C200-D2.

Just posting to help other MT82 users. I tried Redline DCTF in my '12 V6 MT-82 at 55k. Seemed to shift quicker/easier, but began after a while to grind 2nd & 3rd when it was cold (<60F). Switched back to XT-11-QDC with an oz of Motorcraft xl-18 (shake it before using), and no more grinding, but seems a little slower shifting.
