It could be ok depending on driving profile. That said, 2017 Accord under warranty(?), I'd follow MM, 0-15% or 1 year, see how far that takes you. Out of warranty, want to go 10k miles as SOP, do a used oil analysis to give you an idea if you're in the ball park. IMO, Mobil 1 0w20 and Honda filter capable of that oci. My .02
First post , long time lurker. What is the consensus with Honda Accords? I have two 2017 Accords. One is a EX-L , the other a Sport. The EX-L uses no oil. But the Sport likes to sip some.

It's a 2017 vehicle with a maintenance minder. Just follow it.

I'd change by the MM. At 15% MM, start planning a convenient time to do the oil change.
This is what I do with my PI '12, although your engine is DI.
Trust Honda to have gotten this right and don't overthink it.

I'm not trying to pick on you in particular, but it's just I have heard this a lot from people who have cars with oil life monitors and I don't understand how you feel it's easier to do it every 5000 miles compared to just doing it when the oil life monitor tells you to. It can't get much easier to remember than to simply wait for the oil life monitor to tell you to do it.

8K would be my Mobil 1 (Regular) limit. Never had an oil change go longer than that. Been owning vehicles since 1969.

I just sold our 2017 Accord Sport Special Edition. I serviced it by the MM; generally between 20 to 30 percent. Nice car.
Bought it in Feb 2017 for $22,400; sold it quick to a dealer for $19,000. Just under 18K miles on the clock...

I've had a few Hondas.....the newest one has the life time oil changes/filters from the dealership, just bring it in by 0 on the MM and they change for free and that comes with a lifetime engine warranty from the dealer....guess what my 14 year old is going to drive in a couple of years???? Anyway, after all the other Honda's I've had, I did a lot research, oil analysis and reading on this forum. What I've came up with has worked for 3 different Honda's...current 06 Accord, an 02 Accord and a 11 CRV when I had to change the oil myself. I used Mobil 1 Extended Performance 5w30 for about 13K miles. I kept the mileage written down but it usually would require me to reset the MM once and roughly change out the oil at about 30% of the next MM cycle. Been toying with the new 20K M1 Annual oil that just came out, but it's about 10 bucks more I noticed last night at Walmart. Now, the wife and I average about 16K miles a year, 90% highway and I know that makes a difference on the oil versus stop and go stuff. Put it this way, my 06 has about 145K on it and I'm still on the original brake pads. With the wife's CRV deal with the dealer, the oil get changed on average about every 6-7K miles, according to the MM. I have NO IDEA what oil they are using, but they obviously backed it up with lifetime changes and lifetime engine warranty....so I'm good with that. I'd run the factory oil until MM tells you. Honda has been well known to moly up their factory fill that assist with getting the engine to break in properly. I'd leave that in at least and not dump early.
