This is the second full interval with the new M1 ESP Formula 0w40 with about the same mileage and duration, but less track time (5 hours this OCI versus 10 on previous OCI). The OLM read 30% when the oil was changed out. Some of these track outings were in ambient temps of 90-100 F, and the PDR data indicated oil temps as high as 275 F.
Blackstone said things look good and the motor is handling the hard driving fine. They did highlight that the viscosity was a bit out of grade for a 40 but said the same thing last time.
I'm still undecided if I will continue with this oil after this OCI. Chevy recommends 15w50 for track use, and there are a number of stout 0w40s out there like 300V, RL, or RLI that can be had for roughly the same price. This was a slightly shorter run that did improve TBN, wear metals, and viscosity, but TAN still rose due to the increased short tripping. Discuss.
