2017 Chevy Impala 3.6 yea or nay?

Local private sale, 44k, looks well kept in the ad photos. Is the 3.6 and 6 spd something to be concerned with?
Too bad there's no response from the seller. Could be a nice car. That is so annoying.

I forget which version of the 3.6 is used in the latest gen Impala, but like all these GM GDI 3.6's, longevity mostly depends on how well it was cared for. The vast majority of the Traverse, etc, 3.6 timing jobs are the result of stretching OCIs too far for the engine, letting the oil level run a bit low, etc.

The 6spd is the same basic 6spd that's been used for ~18yrs. No pan to drop, but easy to drain/fill the ATF on.

If it wasn’t for the annoying 2-3 shift flare that is apparently “normal”…for the most part, it’s a fine transmission.

Is that just in certain vehicles? My Malibu use the same 6T70 and it has been really good. Probably one of the best automatics I have had. Better than my 4L80, 6L80E and 6L90E. Certainly better than the 4T65E. I do a drain and fill on it every other oil change as there is no serviceable filter. I mean it has one, but you have to split the transmission case to get at it.

There are a few TSB's about it, varying by models and year ranges.

My wife's 2013 Equinox has always had it. Lots of talk about it in the Equinox/Traverse/GM-equivalent forums.

I have one in 2018 Cadillac. I don't know the Eng. model but it has been great so far, I try to change the oil often < 5000 mi.
