As I said, let the OP buy his 2016 Passat. The prices are very attractive. Heck, you can't buy a Hyundai Elantra it seems for those prices.
Volkswagen has many attributes that make them attractive. Unfortunately, and in my personal experience, those positive attributes go sour after a few years of ownership. If the cars were so fantastic they wouldn't have the reputation that they have.
I'm a lifelong VW owner. My first car was a 1980 Scirocco S, then I had a 1981 Rabbit LS diesel, a 1996 Passat VR6, a 1999.5 Golf TDI, and lastly my 2009 Jetta TDI. I'm not new to these machines or the corporation. I am simply expressing to the original poster that the Passat may not be all it appears to be and I'm giving fair warning.
Would I buy another one? YES! Do I recommend them to others? NO.
BTW, my screen name is the phonetic pronunciation of the letters VW in German. It's in my blood. I just don't believe in misrepresenting something because I'm a fanboy.
