I sent in the Sorento's first oil sample, and it passed with flying colors!

With 110,451 miles on the odometer and a somewhat irregular maintenance history from what my girlfriend has told me, I was very curious to see what this would show. I'm thrilled with the results. This jibes with what I've read about the Lambda II's reliability.

I intend to keep it on a severe maintenance schedule with all of the short tripping this engine sees. I currently have it running on Valvoline R&P 5W-30 just for funsies, and I intend to post the results of the next oil sample. Based on this analysis, though, it's perfectly happy with Super Tech.

Yes, wear metals are way below average. Universal Averages calculate out to 2.7ppm total metals per 1000 miles. Your results are 1.5ppm per 1000 miles total metals. Nice!

I don't think this has anything to do with Supertech. It's a fine oil, but any other API SP oil would've done similarly.

Nice choice on the Valvoline R&P. Looking forward to seeing the results.

Cheers!

Nice looking report, SuperTech is decent oil --- its not great though.

1) decent
2) good oil
3) great oil
Not hating on any brand whatsoever....

Looks similar to a VOA from your database...I mean this oil is clean! We hear the stories of some folks "re-using" their oil to run through their mowers. I'd be the first to sign up if this was the source. 😆

UOA matches very well with the Warner's own brand Mag1 VOA posted here. Especially i like how the 100c viscocity matches with Shear Stability Final Viscosity from VOA
https://mag1.com/products/passenger...or-oil/mag-1-synthetic-blend-5w-30-motor-oil/

This also confirms that supertech conventional 5w30 is actually a synteic blend, as all SP rated conventional 5w30 oils are synthetic blends
I should have noted this in the original post so it's on me, but the Super Tech 5W-30 depicted in this UOA is actually full synthetic.

I'm still riding the high of having such low wear metals in this sample!

A wee-bit low on the Phos/Zinc combo (ZDDP)
Boron / Moly combo is a bit low. More-so than wee-bit.
Big drop on cst@100 visc (8.78). The default Supertech Syn usually starts Virgin at around 11.2

Besides all that, nice anti-wear numbers. If you continue with the Supertech love, I recommend a switch to the Supertech Advanced 20k, only a few dollars more. I saw a noticeable difference (even in the oil drain pan) when running both oils

Congratulations on the great UOA. Super Tech did an outstanding job. The great thing about Walmart store brands is that they are all high quality.
