I am about to build a 2014 Suzuki RM-Z450 in to a supermoto track bike.

I also plan to try and get it plated, if so will ride it to work on the freeway about 15 miles each way.

I am thinking Amsoil 20W-50 motorcycle oil should be able to survive. I know I will have to do frequent oil changes.

Any concerns running the Amsoil or other suggestions aside from Rotella?

Thanks

These RMZ-450s are a real high strung maintenance intensive engine. Valves are supposed to be adjusted constantly, and top ends on a fairly regular scedule. I wouldn't go 50wt. Does this share the engine oil with the transmission? Some honda race bikes do not if I remember correctly.

I like the Amsoil moto oils and have had good luck with their 10w40 holding it's viscosity. You might start there and take several used oil analysis to confirm that you're not shearing too badly. I just can't see that engine needing a 20w50 synthetic, I know they sheer oil, but Amsoil is quite sheer stable, at least in my two similar engines, a Kawasaki 450 and a KTM 450. I wouldn't do over a 10 to 12 hour OCI until I confirmed with analysis though.

FWIW, I've tried pretty much every oil I could find over the years, in a succession of mostly high-performance shared-sump I4 motorcycles.

My favorite as far as how the bikes run (smoothly with flawless shifting) is Motul 300V 4T.

the current amsoil 20w50 is good.
previous versions were no better than other NON-shear stable oils that claimed they were.

what you will find is that a super-retard .... i mean motard bike on the road is very very buzzy at hiway speeds.
you need to add teeth to the front and take off the rear sprockets to get them up to speed and then that kills the offtheline and corner acclerations.

also please try and keep it quiet and not join the hardly can ride gang. loud pipes just get people mad at you.
