2014 Mazda 3

I have a 2010 Mazda 6 and had a 2011 Mazda 3. Almost traded the 3 for a 2014 6 sedan but in the end got a CPO Bimmer that the wife drives. Love the new 6 and that it's now a Japan made car.

Predictable look based on the direction they went with the CX-5 and new 6. Not saying this is a bad thing though, looks nice. Hopefully there will be some official pictures up soon. I'm more interested in the MPG rating, lol.

Wow, absolutely no concern for your fellow American's job opportunities eh? Harsh.

Probably equally concerned as those auto workers are about him and his family.

Love wifey's 2014 6 too

we're very happy with it, and hope the 3 follows its path also.

Yeah and I want a quality product - don't care where it is made, if I pay my money for it. If it's US made, it's great - if it's Japanese, that's great, too. I buy whatever is best I can afford, and don't feel pressured to buy [censored] ONLY because it's made here.
We own (have owned) 4 different cars from 4 different countries:
US (recently sold), Japan, Korea and Germany.

Geez, So because something is made in Japan it is automagically some super higher quality, and now I guess it's every man for himself.

This thread is off to a great start!

We have a 2010 Mazda 3 and the wife likes it.

I really wish she'd put more miles on it, it is really wasteful.

Rust belt cars should be driven and enjoyed.

I like the drive of the Mazda 3, and we're hoping it isn't one of the Mazdas that rust out after 5 years.

Is the 2014 Mazda3 made in Japan ?

Unfortunately it will be the first generation of Mazda 3's made in Mexico. My 1st and 2nd gen were Japan made. This has me mildly concerned.

As the original poster here I'd like to keep it strictly to the asthetics and quality of the car mentioned. Not a debate about U.S. vs. Others. That argument has been played out for 30 years now. Every country has their hits and misses. Lets leave it at that.

Made in Japan means first world production and social cost. While I'd prefer us made, exactly what you want isn't always available.

But Mexico = boycott.

Why boycott a car built in Mexico? If it's a reasonably modern facility the car should be as solid as one built anywhere else.

Quite likely. After having the displeasure of owning an American-made Accord and experiencing first hand the effects of ifs poor fit and finish, it'll take a lot for me to even consider buying another US-made vehicle.

I don't like how it looks like the hatch has been ever shortened. Less cargo room possibly. Looks like they need a wagon version now. Possibly done to keep people from cross shopping with the CX-5?

A few years back when I was shopping for a car, a lot of Jettas that were 5-6 years old looked like they were falling apart. Almost all of them had Mexican VIN numbers. It's not proof of anything, but I'm a little suspicious of cars assembled in Mexico.

Unitl American companies care for Americans, JAPAN FTW

20 year old japanesse car work well , 3 year old americans already have minor problems.

Bring it out now.

Unfortunately Mexican made scares me as well. The VW example is what I've read as well. Mexican Jettas were not good, while German/European made Golfs and GTIs were a league above them in build quality.

While I'm definitely not a fan of the mexican production, you can look at the fusion as an excellent example of a quality, reliable mexican built car. I don't think Mazda is going to allow quality to suffer, they can't afford to- unlike VW, they don't have massively deep pockets and huge sales.
