That's the only way they can justify the outrageous price tag.

As a Honda/Acura guy, I think Acura has their work cut out for them if they ever plan to be competitive with the new A3 and CLA. Only women that are badge obsessed are driving the ILX thinking they got a good deal.

I'd much rather drive a Focus ST than a Civic SI. They can be found for about the same price and the real world performance difference is significant.

To get the Civic to match a stock ST takes a few thousand dollars worth of bolt on's. Whereas, a stock ST with a $400 canned tune will be pumping out over 300HP.

And, I am absolutely convinced there is little difference in quality.

Civic is a great car for the money...especially when compared to even the Acura (as pointed out in the above mentioned Road & Track article).
No way I'd choose a Ford Focus ANYTHING over the Civic Si...even if the Ford can be easily tuned.

I would most definitely take a Focus ST over the Si. That said,I prefer my lightly modded(Mazdaspeed CAI, Hypertech tune,Koni FSDs, and JBR rear anti-roll bar) 2007 MS3 to either one.

I've always really liked the Civic Si, and some day I may own one. But with cars like the Focus ST, WRX, and GTI out there Honda really has their work cut out for them. I know that the car has always been lower on the performance spectrum than its peers, but it has made up for it in other ways. But that performance gap is getting so wide that it's getting more difficult to make a case for the car. It actually seems to be in more direct competition with cars like the plain Mazda 3 than the performance variants of other makes and models.

I agree 100%. I'd take the s Touring Mazda3 over the Si- assuming Mazda sees fit to mate the 2.4 Skyactiv to a manual box...
