I have a 2013 chevrolet sonic 1.8l sedan and the owners manual specifies 4.8 quarts of oil yet when I fill it with 4 quarts the dipstick says its at the max line. Should I continue to do 4 quarts of oil or do what the manual says? Thank you
It's happened on more than one oil change and i lift up the car slightly on the passengers side loosen the bolt then drop the car down off the jack and let it drain. When i put the bolt back in its still slightly dripping but very slowly. I've also heard other sonic and cruze owners(same engine as sonic) say the same thing about this but nobody ever knew what to do haha.
You need to measure how much is actually coming out when you drain it and then go from there. This would tell you if there is a quart still hiding in the engine somewhere. Some dipsticks aren't reliable I guess.
Did Nissan have a hand in designing this engine? Did they make a mistake in the owners manual?
For example, I know that the XD Elantra had a mistake in the manual. There is a TSB on it. It says 4.5 qt, but it's actually 3.5 qt, and the full mark on the dipstick reflects the correct 3.5 qt.
