Looking to put new tires on a 2012 Kia Rio. OE size is 185/65-15. Anyone know if 195/60-15 has any problems on this vehicle?

Thanks

When you do the math you'll see a difference of 3.25mm. That difference is shared on both sides of the tire so one tire's sidewall is ~1.6mm of the other.

All but imperceptible. I'd go for the higher tire size. Kira

Here's a formula for determining the outer diameter of a tire:

Using the aforementioned 185/65/15.....185 X 65% = 120.25...convert to inches by dividing by 25.4 (a constant)
= 4.734 which you then multiply by 2 (X 2 = 9.468) + the tire diameter (in this case 15) = 24.468....Any upgrade should equal this or be plus or minus .5 inch (1/2 inch).

So using this formula we see that the 195/60/15 = 24.212.

So the difference in diameter is .256 (approx. 1/4 inch). So your good to go as long as you have clearance.

Can't speak to the Rio specifically, however 01 Civic EX had same size Rio. After OE tires worn went to the wider 195/60-15 and never looked back. Interestingly Honda themselves went to the 195's on later same generation Civics. Discount Tire calls it an optional 'plus zero' size to OE.

Lots of tire size comparison sites on the net that you can compare, one below pretty good first one I came on with google. Just plug in the two sizes, and shows all the pertinent measurements and speedo readings. This change makes insignificant difference in speedo reading. My advice, go for it.

tirerack shows circumference and dia and rev per mile for your specific tire.

I wanted to go to a plus zero oversize on the rogue (225 65 vs 215 70) but the dealer would not install them. Yes the service manager is an antagonistic donkey. I only went there as I thought they would fix my brake judder under warranty (19K miles 1y 9 months old) . They said there was nothing wrong but they would fix it for 225 dollars. Again the donkeys.
