2012 Civic Si

I don't know what the 'fuss' is - the new Civic looks just like the old one, especially the 2-door!

Make it RWD, then you have the right to call it a sports car. It's pointless to do that to a FWD car, as it's still an econobox, most likely with lots of understeer.

Looks like my RSX.

Looks OK to me, the coupe looks like a smaller version of the Accord coupe (sort of).

I have 2 wishes for the new Civic: 1. No 2-tiered dashboard. I tried to like it but I just can't adjust. 2. Dual-clutch transmission for the Si (or, I guess, a 6-speed auto... just not a CVT).

I thought it was going to have a 6-cyl... then it could have officially jumped the shark.

If they rake the windscreen any more severely, you'll have to sit in the back seat to drive the dang thing. Too big, too heavy, to "over the top" 4 me. And yes, my yaris looks silly too - but it very accomodating.

Ive loved the yaris and hated the civic as rentals over the last few years and very varied terrain and use. Sure hope this new civic gets better (and of course the yaris too!).

I think I like the new Chevrolet Sonic better. Of course, I'd ride a bike before a Honda, too.

I like it so far. I think the comparisons to sports cars and calling it a fail because it isn't one, betrays either a misunderstanding of what the Civic was always intended as (Honda's version of the "people's car"), or not understanding that its very sporty look (to me anyway) is meant to improve mileage - not turn it into a Corvette. It states in the article that Honda is placing a big emphasis on improving mileage with the 2012 model, and that body design - which will be shared across all sub-models, one of which will be a hybrid - is one component of that. Its not meant, even in the SI flavor, to make it a sports car - though it'll probably be well received by the tuner crowd and have generous aftermarket upgrades available in time.

Those looking for an off the floor sports car should be looking at those cars that are billed as sports cars rather than knock something for not being what it was never intended to be. If you want to make a just comparison, then a hybrid like the Prius or sedan like the Corolla would be a little fairer (not to single out Toyota, these are just better comparative examples that come to mind).

I am liking the front but the back is ugly. The coupe looks like the accord coupe from the back, and I am not too big of a fan of that one.

Honda and Acura designs are way out there these days.

More smaller windows and slanted fronts. Not my thing. I've always considered the Accord styling better, especially the coupe.

i read somewhere that the new civics blow in side impacts.... 2 of 5 stars. My mom has driven civics for....15+ years and hers is getting tired. told her to avoid the new ones.

I like the comments on that site - someone is unhappy because the pictured Si has "only" 19" wheels.

I bought my 2005 5-speed VP 2-door right when the new (current) design came out. I got it for 11350 (air and stereo are the only "options", and love those cheap 14" tires). Now at 210000 miles and the most reliable car I've ever owned, neve a prroblem, runs great and can get to 45 mpg in the summer, even with our ethanol-contaminated, I mean "enriched", fuel. I'm hoping to do the same thing with a leftover 2011, and keep the 05 as a winter car, but it seems there are nothing but automatics available.
