It really is a shame, because they are nice. In my opinion, the only vehicles worth buying as far as GMC goes is the Yukon and Sierra, but they are so high priced nowadays. It's just absurd.

The guy I know who owns one has had so many problems with his. The transmission not shifting right (or at all), the brakes wear out fast, electrical grimlens, etc. And he is a mechanic so I know he isn't stupid about cars. If you want to spend your money on one of these go right ahead.

If you are looking at buying new the Honda or Toyota is the same price as the equivalent GM or Chrysler. Why anyone would buy one of those is amazing to me.

We had nothing but problems. It spent a considerable amount of time at the dealer for all kinds of warranty work including a transmission at 30k, 50k, and 72k. Traded it the next day at 72k miles.

Meticulously maintained, never abused, and never towed anything.

I used PP 5w30 and a Fram Ultra. It burned oil too.

I've had great success with both PPPP & QSUD in my old Yukon so I think that's what I'll stick with unless proven otherwise. I got all the warranties just in case something would happen & from slot of the posts it seems like I made a excellent decision.

Anybody use the AC Delco filters on the Traverse or should I look into another filter. The AC Delco came on it from the dealership.

Unfortunately it doesn't seem to matter how well you maintain them, I have seen both types of owners with the same problems.

That's all we use at the dealership. We had a customer with over 250k miles on his Enclave and the engine never blew up because of the filtration.... they're fine but I'm sure there are better.

I'm using the AC Delco filter on my Impala with the 3.6 DI engine. I found a user on ebay that still had some of the non e-core filters AC Delcos (PH63) so I bought a case of 12 for like 3.00 a piece.

I had the oil changed once at the local dealership and they used the ecore filter (AC Delco PH63E).

I'd like to think the AC Delco would be great for that mileage & considering that there might be the oil consumption issues the OE type might be best in case of warranty issues. I don't think the use of aftermw filters would be bad but I think it would be better not to give any room for them to place the blame on anybody but GM for the cause of problems.

Unfortunately every tech I've talked to at different dealers have the same stories as I do. Really common.

Somewhere on here I have posted a uoa of 5w30 napa syn in the traverse on a 5k run and it had lowered the viscosity some hence adding some 10w30 from then on.

My apologies, read it a little too fast. Anyways, it's odd that the owner's manual says 6.5 when Service Information says 6. And it's on the full mark at 6 if I do an oil change, gotta love GM.

I was reading that the extra half quart came about when they started spacing the pf63 instead of the pf48. Not that that added a half quart capacity but maybe they did it for the same reasons they went to a bigger filter.

I wouldn't use the e core version. The dealer used one when I had them change the oil once and it looked bad. It hadn't blown through yet but it looked to close for comfort. They had also used a pf48/instead of the pf63 like it is supposed to have but I never had a filter look that bad on the pf48 Napa equivalent that I used on it for a while.

I just picked up a 2011 Buick Enclave back in Aug 2015 and did the first oil change in Dec to flush out whatever the dealer put in. I loaded it with PP 5w/30 and a mobil 1 M1-212. I've since picked up a few Fram Ultra's to be used on my next OCI. What a pain in the royal arse to change the filter on these vehicles!!! The first one was done at my local garage as I wanted to see how he did it, the next ones will be done by me, but even my mechanic had a real hard time figuring out how to get it off without making a royal mess, which he ended up doing anyways....

Our 2011 Acadia has been great, but only has 74k miles on it. I've changed out the transmission fluid twice now. super easy to do. Pull plug drain fluid, measure what came out, put back in and then run and check dipstick for correct level.

Also, we are lucky and no oil consumption either. I switched over the power steering to AMSOIL back when we got it and changed it out again about 30k miles.

Oil changes have been at 5k miles, basically when the OLM gets down to 10%. Using AMSOIL and running PF63 filters. Like stated above I found them on eBay for $3.00 a filter and purchased 10 of them.

I don't seem to have any issues with making a mess when changing the oil. I do have a Fumoto valve on the oil pan, which is nice and pulling the filter, I just put a rag around my arm so I don't burn myself on the CAT. All the oil drains down into the drip pan.

I top off with six qts. I have a bunch of UOA's I posted on in the UOA section.

My main complaint is this thing eats tires. We can't get more than 35k out of a set. Tried various different brands.

One of the guys I work with just traded in a 2009 Traverse with timing chain issue's for a 2013 Chrysler 300. Not sure if he did himself any favor's or not.

Hopefully he got the 3.6 penstar engine. Lol

My mom has a 2011 and its at or above the full mark with 5.5 qts and a filter. It takes the Pf63 also...6 would put it pretty high on the stick..weird.

Also one thing i will note is the Rear differential and transfer case fluid should be changed every 30k as well. I use 75w90 SVG in my moms and change it every 30k and it looks like it takes a beating. The diffs only hold about 1 quart each so it is imperative that it gets serviced often if you have a AWD version.

The transmission is also easy to service, so I do a drain and refill (5qts) once every 3rd oil change.

I put whatever synthetic is on sale in it and change it every 5 or 6k miles. she is at 105k miles and so far so good. I seem to add about a quart in 5k miles to hers.
