Hi,

I am thinking about buying this vehicle, it suits our new vehicle needs. One thing I can't get good data on is the real life fuel economy. Literature ranges from 23mi/USgal to 29mi/USgal. Does anyone have a similar vehicle with comparable powertrain (5.7, six speed, 3.92:1, 20") and can you tell me your real no fib highway fuel economy? I am a +5 -to +7 driver on the highway i.e. if the Interstate I am on is a 75MPH Interstate I typically am going 80MPH etc. and I know that hits the economy hard. As well, anything weird in the oil maintenance i.e. expensive special oil etc. Thanks.

My brother has a 2010 RT 6spd stick.

He gets 26-28 mpg highway consistently. This seems to be the concensus on Challengertalk forum

Another freind has a 08 Charger RT with the auto. His has the MDS. He bought and replaced his v6 Solara. Say the Charger gets better gas mileage highway and is a much better quality car. He has about 90K on it and loves it.

Have driven the rental version of the 2012 Charger a few times - great car! That version has the 290 HP V-6, the 5 speed auto and 17 inch tires. I consistently got 27-30 MPG driving the speeds you're talking about. I imagine the hemi will be slightly lower, even with the stick, because of the larger engine and the 20s...but it's still going to be respectable MPG...and the Hemi has cylinder deactiviation, doesn't it?

Awesome choice! The LC's are as solid as a rock, a very well built auto. As a long time owner I can tell you that even my 6.1 auto gets over 20 on the highway, even at 'slightly' higher speeds.

I track every gallon consumed and have averaged 17.5 since August of 05! And I have no MDS on my car. Yours does not either if it's a six speed trans.

I would expect yours to do very well with the 6 speed. Expect nearly 20 around town with a light foot.

"Our"? He he... read: Doesnt look overtly ArrestMeFast like a 'stang or a Camaro but goes like a scalded hyena nonetheless (:

Hmmm, RWD Muscle Car in Canuckland and your concern is MPG's??? I'd be more concerned with winter storage or studded winter tires and chains...LOL

Economy answers - Thanks for the posts. That US MPG site is the one I saw with the 23 figure.

Style answers - For sure, I think this car looks excellent. I have old muscle cars (now and throughout my life) but for vacations / not caring about parking in a motel etc. plus the modern amenities, this car looks perfect but I don't want old school muscle mileage on my long trips. I would consider the 3.6 car but... I just can't.

My daily driver is a 2006 GMC K1500 so the winter concerns are covered. This is a pleasure vehicle purchase for driving vacations and the odd errand.
