I run Pennzoil Platinum in my 06 Mustang GT with some minor mods. If you are going to stretch it out to 7500 I think PP would be a good choice. I only go 5k but your new 5.0 has a larger sump.

I changed this one out when the oil life was at about 5% .There has been some talk about this engine using a lot of oil on some of the forums ,so I am not going to take any chances on the warranty until they , Ford , figures out if there is a real problem or not .Mine had used 1 quart by 3200 mile, then didn't drop any more after that .I went ahead and put Motorcraft 5w-20 Synthetic Blend Motor Oil in it. I also used the Purolator PureONE Oil Filter #PL22500 .I will see how this works out .

Great oil choice for this motor in normal use. Lots of TBN left so you could easily go farther OCI's.

Your oil usage is a bit high for my tastes, but I always break my new engines in hard and it's never failed to deliver lower oil consumption and long happy life.

Enjoy that hot Stang!

Is that the factory fill in this car as well?

I didn't know about an oil usage issue on the new 5.0. I've had three 4.6's, none of which used any. You might check Mustang Source and see if others have an issue. Motorcraft is a great oil also. It is the factory fill.

My other GT , 2006 4.6 supercharged , used no oil either. But it seems these higher revving engines tend to use some oil at first . As I said before ,there is some talk on the forums about this ,, http://s197forum.com/forum/showthread.php?t=68696
Other than the first gt. of oil, it hasn't used any more , and car runs great !

My 5.0 doesnt use any. But then it got alternating high load, high vac cycles in a secluded area when it was new. Some people dont agree with this but its always worked for me.

This has always worked well for me. I get consistently better oil consumption, a very long lived motor and it would seem better power output.

Interesting, can you elaborate? Thanks!

WOT, then let off but keep it in gear, so the rev's are up and the wheels drag the engine. This makes very high vacuum. Do this a fair bit. It "pulls" the rings against the walls, making a better seal.

Yep, Motoman gets ragged on here but engines treated this way when new consistently use less oil and run better.

Just stay out of the lower gears.
