This is the factory Ford fill at 1200 miles, it's a 2024 coyote engine. It used a little oil in the first 1200miles, but still between the fill and full lines.

We know that 5w-30 shears down quickly, but I wasn't sure how a 10 qt sump imapcted that. It's at 9.1 vs 9.3 at the minimum for a 30wt.

Calcium is knocking on 1500.

Does anything stand out to you?

Interesting, it's a base point to see were it started from. You plan to keep testing and stick with 30 grade?

Everything looks fine. Wear metals are high, as expected for break in. That's kind of the issue with new vehicle UOA's and why I don't do them, all it really tells you is that your engine isn't eating itself.

As for the viscosity... you know, entirely possible Ford shipped it with 20w oil.. To sheer down to 20w in 1,200 miles seems odd unless it was a ton of short trips.

Edit: woah, silicon seems VERY high. Check your air intake/filter.

I really don't know. I used Kirkland 5w-30 this swap out. I'm open to better suggestions, like the M1 Truck and SUV, or whatever else.

High Silicone can be typical on a new engine as well. But if it doesn't trend down, absolutely agree.

Can’t tell much from the first uoa on a new engine. But it will be helpful if you continue to trend via UOAs.

I’d stick to Kirkland as it’s very good oil and perfect for your 10 quart sump.

I plan to continue getting them. I know the first few aren't super useful. It's factory fill, possibly not even Motorcraft oil, so I can't get more even if this was some amazing result.

It's mostly a learning tool right now, secondarily it's proof of an oil change.

Both air filter assemblies seem fine. Clamps are tight, no breaks in the tubing, the housing fits as expected.
The break in oil in my gen 3 coyote had 49 ppm of silicon, pretty sure it’s from whatever assembly lube they use. Iron was at 32 ppm and copper was 29. Nothing looks odd with your numbers.

It’s going to take 2 to 3 changes to really flush out those break in wear metals. Keep that in mind when looking at your oil analysis results. I made that mistake when I first used Mobil 1 then tried Valvoline. Valvoline had lower copper but it wasn’t from the oil being any better the break in wear was still working its way out.
