Yes, but reason is AGAIN saving money. I6 is allowing them to develop modular engines of 3, 4 and 6 cylinders.
People in Munich probably told them: we told you so.

Of course! These are from back in Aug when I first picked her up.

Thanks - yeah she is definitely pretty and as boring as silver is it looks good on the E.

The W212 (pre-facelift.....I actually like the ponton flare) is my 2nd favorite E body style behind the facelifted W211. I am not a huge fan of the current MB styling where the C/E/S all look like just small/medium/large sizes of the same package, I honestly cannot tell a new C or E apart until I see the badges - S is a bit easier to determine because it is such a behemoth. But they all still look the same!

Yeah, that's a nice one, but you have the faded wood trim. Too bad the OEM kit is about 2k even online. Sometimes you find a used kit on eBay for a few hundred.

Oh yeah its definitely faded.......on the bright side I never noticed until it was pointed out to me. I have been looking for a carbon fiber or brushed aluminum trim to replace all of it but seems those are not really a thing. To be honest even my anal retentive self still does not notice it but maybe 1-2x per month and shockingly it does not bug me too much.

Boring is good for the long term, I think.

A little more differentiation on the newest ones would be nice, I certainly agree. Actually, the other day, saw an older fellow driving around a 1980 240D. It was in pretty good shape, but it looked like he touched up the black paint with a brush of brown where needed, which didn't do it any favours.
