2011 Jeep Compass

The old model was just so unbearably ugly, but then I saw this:

I want to go to the Jeep dealer just to pick it apart and prove I still hate it, but I'm afraid I might actually buy one.

It looks somewhat better, the old one was just terrible.

Same with the Avenger, but I just rented a 2011 while I was on a trip, and I liked it a lot. Chrysler really improved a lot of models for 2011.

Wow, it's amazing what a few tweaks can to for a model. I can actually look at it now.

Interior still looks "dime store" and I dont like the brightwork around the grille slats - trailer trash bling. But we shopped a Patriot before buying the Subaru Forester - but the price point was right in the middle of the subaru, Nissan and the rav so it wasnt a value per se, and, chrysler was againsrt the rocks at the time. Still, I like the older (1st gen) interior design better - I dont like that Organic-Animal mishmash interior design.

Seems steep to me too. $30K for what is basically a four banger Chrysler car is just too much.

The looks are an improvement. They don't look quite as much like cartoonish rental cars now. I still don't think they are very good looking vehicles though...odd windows, odd lines, generic CUV blob appearance.

The build on this will definitely be better.
I was in a 2007 Caliber once. Joke.
Then I was in a 2009 Caliber.. It was completely 100% better built.
I am sure this is a decent vehicle. The new Grand Cherokee is downright awesome so I'm sure it's rubbed off some on the other models.

There'd be no way I would pay $30K for one. Not with the possibility of a TSX wagon with a manual being near that price, I could buy a Fiesta anda Mazda2 for that price, the fact that I can buy any number of Subarus for that price, and I can get a Jetta Sportwagen TDi for less.

But I suspect that one would be able to pick one up from dealer stock for considerably less than sticker.

Will dealer stock have one with a manual transmission? Probably not. The CVT is fine but just not for me.
