Hello folks, new member here. I have a 2011 Focus with the 2.0 Duratech engine. I am debating on using Motorcraft synthetic blend 5w20 or Mobil 1 5w20. I drive mostly highway with some stop and go/ short trips on weekends. I have Menard's near me as well as Wal Mart.

Thoughts and suggestions are appreciated

Welcome to the Forum!!!

Either oil should be fine for your Focus, with Mobil 1 having an edge. There is a $12.00 rebate right now on Mobil 1 and you can get the superior EP version for the same price as regular Mobil 1 at Walmart ($26.68 per 5-quart jug).

Your driving style is easier on the oil than most Focus engine experience, but still watch-out for fuel dilution after 5,000 miles.

Thanks for the advice 147_Grain 😊. May go get a 5 quart jug of Mobil 1 0w20 as have FRAM ultra and submitted for $2 rebate already.

The port injected Duratec I4 engines are very easy on their oil. Mobil 1 5w-20 or 0w-20 could easily go 10,000 miles and work well in this engine.

As would MC 5w-20; I don't think there is an oil that meets ford's sped (which the Mobil 1 ones do) that is bad for this engine.

I have run cheap oils like Mobil Super 5000 to expensive oils like Castrol Edge 0w-20 ... the engine doesn't care. Currently running MC 5w-20 because I got it for free.

Thanks Miller88, yeah I thought about sticking to the 7500k interval with Mobil 1 0w20 or 5w20 then UOA oil and see if 10k is ok to do

I just picked up a 2013 with the 2.0 engine. I have Castrol EDGE Extended Performance and Fram Ultra filters lined up for ~10k OCI's for highway driving with a little stop and go on the weekends. It would probably go 15k but it's still under warranty and 10k is the max the OLM will go.

With MC SynBlend and MC filters 7.5k should be fine
