Seems to be thickening a bit which shouldn't be much of an issue with the oxidative thickening control in vds 4.5 but I think I'd cut back a bit. Maybe 16-17k.

Excellent wear rates; outstanding use of extended OCIs.

You're going to want to keep an eye on the insolubles. It's creeping up with the OCI duration. The insolubles in a Blackstone UOA are a combination of the soot and oxidation byproducts; it's a scaled value done by visual reference (the darker the sample, the higher the value). It's obviously not hurting anything yet, but the insolubles may become high enough at some point as to perhaps send the filter into bypass mode as the media loads up. What filter are you running? What's your filter change interval?

How many miles do you drive a year?
As you can see on the report I drive about 15-20K miles a year. I used to drive more but changed jobs and now commute 60 miles a day for 14 days vs. 80 miles for 20 days. Rural Alabama near B'ham

SuperTech 20K Filter. Not a spin on but that funky cartridge that snaps into place inside the plastic screw off housing. I change the filter only when I change the oil.

Strumpy: great report. Thank You for sharing friend 🍺🇺🇸👍

Did you change the oil and filter? Maybe I missed it

Oh yeah, filled it with Valvoline Blue 15w-40 and another Super Tech cartridge oil filter. I'm gonna go 15K on this fill and I really want to try and maybe take some Pennzoil Ultra Platinum 10w-30 to 25K miles. If what I have studied about the Gas To Liquid process in forming the base oils is true then I believe a 25K mile OCI is doable.

I’d love to see that report when it’s time 👍

Bet I could run my blend of Delvac 1 5w40/HPL NO VII 5w20 25k +

Thinner oils? I've never run anything but 15w-40 in this engine.
The oils in your previous runs had noticeably lower viscosities on less miles. So, you're telling us the 110,000 /9000 run with an ending vis of 8.52 started as a 40W vis?

Ok, I see it now. The very first UOA was whatever was in it when I purchased used. The engine specs 0W-20 but I have no idea what the dealer I bought it from had put in it. Coulda been 0w-20, 5w-20? Who knows. Every single other UOA has been 15w-40's.

Just noticed it, Thanks.

Man that is wild. I remember your last reports from this engine and im not surprised to see another stellar one. Dont change a thing.
It shows how good modern oils in a properly engineered and maintained non-direct injection engine can be. I wish their was a Group IV or PAO 15w-40. I'd go 25K with some of that in my Scion!
