Indeed.

I think that's pretty neat that the V-6 is as close as it it to the V-8.

I wonder if the guy who bought a 2010 GT before they announced the 2011 changes think it's pretty neat?

Doubt it.

But the V6 might actually win with a gear.

Pretty neat. The V6 could easily draw even with a couple hundred dollars of work. Heck, it might even get closer as the engine breaks in.

I'm just thankful Ford started using a cowl style hood instead of the retarded faux ram air hoods they used for as long as they did. As if the black plastic on the EFI setup fooled anybody. :D

EDIT: They aren't doing that anymore...right?

Spent a looong, painful delay in Atlanta looking at the Motor Trend issue with all the ponycars inside. If the Mustang continues its ascendancy, my Speed 3's days are numbered

I finally watched the vid at home. I thought it was pretty lame. Neither knew how to launch very well. Girl vs. guy. Pretty cool that the average car can no longer beat V6 Mustangs and Camaros. I'd no longer be embarassed to drive one. I actually want one.

In the comments they say the V6 had the stock 3.31(?) gear , if the 2011 had the 3.73 ,it would likely be the other way around.
Also once the engine frees up a bit, it would probably be neck and neck I suspect

Which Nissan V6 are you speaking of? Because the God-almighty Nissan VQ35

is used in various vehicles as well - Maximas and minivans and the like.
And the new VQ37 has the same story.

Right! The duratec started at 2.5 liters , was stroked to 3.0 .got a raised deck and more stroke to 3.5 and now 3.7 .
The Nissan VQ began at 3.0 , went to 3.3 ,3.5 and is now at 3.7.
Both engines are not alike , but have gone through a very similar development

There's also a 4 liter VQ for truck duty! http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Nissan_vq_engine#VQ40DE

EDIT: Also just noticed there are multiple sub 3 liter VQs listed on the same page. Interesting..

Best Showroom Stock pass by a 3.7 M6/3.31 is 13.7 @ 102 .
Best Showroom Stock pass by a 5.0 M6/3.31 is 12.5 @ 112 (So far no 3.55/3.73 car has beat it).

A 2011 3.7 M6/3.31 is essentially the same as a 2005-2009 4.6/300 M5/3.55. A 2010 4.6/315 M5/3.73 is a couple 1/10 and 2 mph quicker.

Nope, the 3.5/3.7 Cyclones are not in any way related to the 2.5/3.0 Mondeos, other than they both get Duratec badges.

The 3.5 was a totally clean sheet engine, different bore spacing from the 3.0 along with everything else.
