My 4000 mile overview. Great vehicle. I average 30 MPG and have never gotten less than 27. Great ride/handling compromise. Sportier vehicle than the price would indicate. I have the 2.0 grand touring sedan w/auto trans. 5 speed helps performance over previous 4 spd. I would buy this car again for sure. First new car purchase that I have not had one minute of buyers remorse. only 2 major downsides: back seat legroom still a bit tight. You have to remove the splashguard to change the oil filter. The front end look grows less goofy over time. Looks normal to me now. Fit and finish are great and interior materials are top notch. I went with the mazda over the civic, because the civic is just to weird looking to me. The fusion is a great car, but I like a high resale value. Corolla is a nice looking vehicle but not sporty at all. The elantra is just ugly, and has the worst resale of any of the above listed vehicles. The new civic will come next year and will surely be a nice vehicle. The Cobalt is cheap looking in and out.

I'm glad you like the car, but it's odd, because I think out of all the cars you listed, the 3 is the ugliest, with the new civic taking the crown for best looking. :P I think the Corolla is butt ugly, Toyotas always look awkward and strange... (Not bashing the cars, just LOOKS)

Only 2 I've been in though are the new Corolla, decent interior, and the new Elantra, great interior.. I only like the Elantra in upscale trim though, the exterior is much better with alloys/foglights, spoiler, etc.

I can agree with the Carolla not being sporty! Toyota though has almost always missed the mark when comprimiseing ride and handling for years. Even when they atttempted sportier Carolla's the car's just never felt sporty. I drove a really nice Carolla that had the Camry's larger 4 cylinder in it but the gearing was all wrong and the suspension was not stiff enough they really missed the mark with that model in terms of what it could be. Anyone can fixit after market but that is not the point. To be fair though GM,Ford and Chrysler have often done the same thing with small so called sprty car's so it is not exclusive to Toyota!

I would have to give Honda points for tuneing each car to have it's own personality if you know what I mean. I sometimes think Toyota tries to make all their car's handle the same but in the end that results in car's with no personality that while durable and well built are boring! The old Supra's and MR2 are an exception to this rule!

I have an 07 Mazda 3. Its the 2.3 sport package. Love it! Great looking, agressive styling, fantastic handling. Its received great praise from the automotive press as well. Handling has been compared to BMW's several times. But the new 2010.....I really am not a fan of the styling. They did a great job on the Mazda 6, but bombed on the 3. Just my opinion though. I am sure it still has great power and handling. Plus they have very good interiors as well. I am eagerly awaiting the arrival of the 2011 Mazda 2 here in the U.S. May trade into that model. I have always been into small Japanese and Euro cars.

The grand touring trim is not available with the 2.0 engine. Do you have the i Touring?

I helped a friend with the purchase of a 2010 3i Touring with the 5AT. After 2000 miles, she says it has been a great car. No issues to report.
