2010 Kia Optima alarm goes off when starting car?

My car is DOA in my work parking lot. When you attempt to start the car the lights flash and horn honks and the starter does not engage. My only idea is a bad cell in the battery is messing with the OEM anti-theft feature in the ignition. I am planning on a new battery in the AM and if it won't start it will be on a rollback to the dealer. The owner's manual offers zero help.

Any insight????

Same thing happened to my F150. Eventually the alarm system shorted itself out and it runs fine now, I have just neglected to get it fixed. Still not sure what originally caused it.

If the car is locked by the remote, the pcm has to see that the car is unlocked by the remote to disarm the security system, and therefore allow the ignition to arm.
No matter what, the vehicle is under factory warranty provided it is under 60k, and you have roadside assistance with 2 tows per year for 5 years unlimited mileage. DO NOT GET IT GOING, GET IT TOWED!
If the dealer can't replicate the condition, they cannot do anything for you.
SKIP THE DIY TROUBLESHOOTING IF UNDER WARRANTY!

I have 54,500 miles so I am still under warranty. I was wanting to avoid the dealer at all costs, especially if it is just a battery, which is OEM and ~4 years old since the car was built in 2009. I get a free tow from Kia? I was unaware of this, I am checking on it now.

Also, I don't have a fob, just a key. I have to manually unlock my car. Which, by the way, the locks are acting up too. I can only unlock the drivers door, not all four. That started tonight as well.

EDIT: Kia's website says roadside assistance is for the original owner. I am the second owner. Back to replacing the battery first. It has to be cheaper at the local parts store.

No. It is 5 years from the in service date, meaning that 5 years from when the original owner purchased the vehicle. Second owner does get the balance of the roadside term.
You may have a master door switch issue. In which case, you would need a new gang switch.
Call roadside and ask, and don't avoid the dealer if you are under warranty. Stay in touch with the people who are best equipped to diagnose your vehicle and fix it for free.
Avoiding a dealer, especially under warranty is really dumb.

Let the stealer fix it if it is under the long Hyundai/Kia warranty if they cant fix it use the lemon law option in whatever state you are in ...its free in most cases!

I thought 5 years/ 60.000 miles bumper to bumper including road side assistance goes with the KIA owner original or second.Just 10 yr/100.000 power train warranty is for original owner.

Car was towed via Kia roadside assistance for free this morning. Dealer claims it has a short in a main wiring harness but they can't find it. I told them to check the lock switches as they are not working now but the window switches work.

The saga continues....

I would just like to add that this was great advice and may have saved the OP a lot of money. If you hadn't been so insistent on him following this route, I'm betting he would never had got this dealt with under warranty (including the free tow!).

Car is back and running. They claim a yellow wire going to the dome light had a short and had been pinched causing a fuse to pop and cause the no start condition. The car didn't know it was unlocked since the fuse had blown.

Thanks to those that helped, I had no clue I had a roadside assistance option with the remainder of the warranty.
