1. 2010 Infiniti EX35 (VQ35HR)
2. OEM is 5w30, OCI of 3k or 5k?
3. Chicago suburbs
4. conservative driving style
5. 50/50 city/highway; she drives it about 40 miles roundtrip to work 5 days a week, 9 months a year.
6. no known problems
The EX35 is basically a crossover G35. It uses the same VQ35HR "high response" motor with 298hp. Factory fill is 5w30 though I know Nissan has the TSB out on their magical ester oil for newer VQ power plants.
The car is only about 3 months old, has maybe 2000 miles on it. It's my mom's DD.
My father has always used Mobil 1 5w30 or 10w30 in the family cars so I think he's got a decent starting point. He was intrigued by the Nissan Ester Oil so I suggested he go for Red Line 5w30 instead since it's a better ester-based oil and costs less than their $11.99/qt stuff.
Any other suggestions?
