This is a UOA of the factory fill which I assume to be Motorcraft Synthetic Blend in 5w-20. The initial oil change was at 991 miles thereby replacing the FF with Pennzoil Ultra 5w-20 and Motorcraft FL-820S filter. I have changed it once more at 4500 miles and am waiting for the next sample kit to send that one to be tested.
As noted in my original post Recommendations? New 2010 Ford FX4 w/5.4L, I am not concerned with extended OCIs, but am concerned about minimizing the wear on the engine to the extent possible. I have the cost of my oil changes down in the
One thing that has surprised me on both the FF and the 1st change of PU is how dark the oil was coming out of the engine. Both changes happened at operating temperature and with so few miles on the oil I would have expected it to be clearer than it actually was (I am using M1 from oil changes that I did 15 years ago as a reference--yeah, it has been that long since I changed my own). I guess this is normal and is a sign the oil is doing its job?
