at 187k on engine should I need to maybe go thicker on oil? just wondering what other people are using on this Honda engine with around same mileage.

Must be K24 week around here; I use Xw-40 with about 160k miles on our CRV; it used about a pint in just under 3k miles.

They will vary from cheapest possible to most expensive boutique, Syn to Dino, every viscosity under the sun. Only factory recommended to they only recommended for fuel economy. Many of us have tried some, all and inbetween.
Pick something easily available to you that you feel is good value. If trying to correct any issues like oil burning may warrant different response.
This coming from a person who just drained 900 mile 5w-40 (with a quart of 5W-30) and replaced with 5W-20 in a 17 year old, 247k mile Honda 2.4L. But that was for my own scenario.

M1 HM 5w30 in our beloved '06 TSX, 240K, with the mighty K24. Does not burn a drop.
If you wanna save a little, perhaps the Kirkland 5w30 HM.
