This site used to be long OCI friendly with quality oils. Now it seems to be the opposite with the onslaught of DI engines and turbos which is understandable. That 2008 Corrolla is neither DI nor turbo charged though?

Nobody buys that much oil if they've never used it before. Well, unless it's an oil crises/shortage, which currently is not, despite various rumors.
So, something is still very fishy. I like fish very much though.

Anytime that you’re switching from one brand of oil to another I don’t think it’s a good idea to immediately start doing 15 or 20k intervals. There’s still some of the previous oil in there so that resulting mix of chemistry might not be up to the task of such a long interval. I would recommend doing a 10k interval first and get a UOA and then try 15k on the next interval. If that report looks good then consider doing 20k. The UOA is your best indicator of whether or not that interval is safe for your specific situation

Had he pictured HPL, Castrol or Valvoline nobody woulda said nutin.

And I honestly don't know. If he is a dealer, then what an idiotic way to attract customers. Now it could even be the other way, fake failure type of thing. I mean if we are speculating...........bottom line we don't know, and it isn't science.

It was my Tax Return money. I invested into oil, heavily. No real reason other than I was encouraged by what AMSOIL could do and I wanted to soften the blow when it became oil change time. I’ve got every base covered.

The car is maintained too to bottom. I was going to go by mileage, maybe 15k miles or so. Should 6 months overrule mileage?
