I own a 2009 Dodge Challenger SRT8 w/ 6.1 Hemi, Procharged putting 500 hp to the wheels. Car specs Mobil 1 0w40 and that is what I have been using. My question is should I use a different oil? Oil temps are around 205-215 degrees.
Is Mobil 1 0w-40 amazing because it has the most approval specs listed? How do we know if its any better than Pennzoil Ultra 0w-40 sold at Dodge dealerships, or Castrol 0w-40 available in Walmart?
Helio Castroneves races in Pennzoil Ultra 0w-40 in 10,000 rpm indycars, so thats sort of an additional 'approval' for Ultra. I don't know if any race team is using straight Mobil 1 0w-40. I'm just saying we need evidence to say Mobil 1 is best.

I would say that since Mobil 1 0w-40 passes all the toughest Euro specs in existence, and then we see the GT-R approval. Certainly "one of the best" as you put it, based on approvals. Yet, I assume one can do just as well with Castrol or Pennzoil Ultra in that weight.

I'm surprised they remain that low, you must have a light foot!
As long as your not tracking the car the Mobil 1 0W-40 is still an excellent choice.
Stick with m1. Until it's clear that Pennzoil Ultra 0w40 has switched to the same GTL base as the other Pennzoil Platinum / Pennzoil Ultra Platinum oils, anyway. Even then it'll be a while before pup has the same kind of track record as m1 in the 0w40 grade. Right now nothing else but the boutique oils can touch it.
By the way, those are pretty low oil temps- that's gotta be just cruising or else you've got more than just the factory oil cooler. Mine cruises at 215-220 and reaches 230 if I'm driving hard. I've never tracked the car, but I'd expect >250 easily.
