2009 Highlander cold air behind glove box

Hey Guys

2009 Highlander with 228k, we had the heat on tonight while coming home , I take the glovebox out and I can feel cold air from outside coming beside the blower motor, blower works fine and moves air like it should , just got outside cold air coming into the car from beside the blower motor , and when I put air on recirculate the air from outsie that was coming into the car all of the sudden stopped. What could cause the air to gush in the car like this ?

I would check the air ducting for rodent damage. The filter cover (if equipped) may also be loose or poorly locked.

From your description it sounds like operation as intended?
Perhaps provide more details?

Air is supposed to come into the car when not on recirc.
