I've become very interested in Dodge's newest baby, especially since AWD is offered and have been crunching numbers. I find this pricing strategy interesting. Who do they think they're kidding with this??

The mileage on these is pretty bad though isn't it? Not sure if that's a big deal to you, but it's pretty sad to see mid size cars that can't reach 30 mpg. Granted Dodge isn't alone in this, some four cylinders can't reach 30 either.

The new 4-cyl Toyota Camry is really disappointing in this aspect as well. There's only so much an "efficient" engine can do hauling around 3,400 lbs of car.

Cars keep getting bigger and bigger...I dare say in 5, 10 years tops we're going to see another industry-wide vehicle downsizing like that last major one in the mid to late 70's. Where did all the nicely sized small economic cars go?

They're getting tacked onto the end of every carmaker's lineup when the formerly smallest car of the family gets as large as the original flagships. The nissan Sentra and Honda Civic have gotten so large, they were able to add the Versa and Fit onto the ends of their lineup. The Current Civic is now larger and more powerful than the 1985 Accord. The Current Accord is now larger and more powerful than the first Acura Legend, and it's catching up with the 2nd Legend quickly. Someday the Accord, Camry and Maxima will be as large as a Crown Victoria. Well, perhaps not, but they're HUGE cars now compared to their origins.

Isnt a 4-cyl camry at 34 MPG??? Im lucky, my saab does 36-38 consistently with about that mass, and just 2.0L...

50mpg at 50mph in a tin-can deathtrap. The EPA MPG numbers look good on those old Hondas, but when it comes down to it, you'd rather not drive one of those when you're liable to be struck by a psychotic middle-aged contractor driving a lifted Ford F250.

They look even better since they were done before the EPA started downrating fuel economy by, I believe, 20%, sometime in the 80s.

I had hopes for the Avenger as well (even though it's stupid to re-use this name). The Avenger looks like a mini-Charger. It should be fun with the 3.5. The downfall is the weight, and cargo space. It weighs 3400+ lbs (R/T FWD). It's trunk is 13 cu-ft (same as my Neons'). Once loaded, it's also quite pricey.
