Bought the car with 17K, currently 145K. Mobil 1 Extended Performance 5w30 since I bought it. OCI between 13K-17K. No used oil analysis done.

Mostly city driving. Done a few long trips - 600 miles round trip - and a 4500 miles trip a while back ago. Just replacing some gaskets and seals to stop oil consumption - And replacing the transmission

Thanks,

I always thought the XOM and GM engineers know more about oil than I do...

I don't think those oil change intervals would fly in our climate, with the cold weather. Florida weather would be a lot easier on oil, less moisture build up and fuel dilution.

I think those engines are relatively easy on oil also. Thanks for sharing the pictures.

Right! OCI's in Wisconsin and Alaska are 3K to 4K miles on my V8 and L4 engines.

I've learned NOT to extend the hard way. That I won't go into...

Severe schedule maintenance, or sooner, is my way today.

FL is too hot and sticky... have already lived on the MS Gulf Coast (7 years) and learned about that!

Give me Alaska or any lands along the Canadian border. I can dress for them.

You can only take off so many clothes!

OTOH, my previous vehicles' engines did like Mississippi weather better.

Beautiful state! Easy on the eyes.

Perhaps I can share this music video shot in Utah. These 4 young ladies are sisters that grew up in Palmer, Alaska -- my family's home town. They could be my daughters!

I cannot hardly wait to retire and travel the country!

Nice work. I agree with wasting money on uoa but 13-17k? Your braver than I am but it seems to work. My old nationwide rep ran a 2000 Volvo S60 400k on nothing but 20k intervals using Mobil 1 and changing filters every 5k. When a deer jumped in front of the car it didn't use a drop of oil either and the only thing he ever replaced was a main seal.

Bet that deer dropped a lot of blood!

That deer must feel better with a new rear main seal.

I always liked GM's series of 60-degree pushrod V6's. The later 3.5 and 3.9 versions were sort of like big block Chevy meets economy car engine, and produces offspring with canted valves. The valvetrains used investment cast steel rocker arms and beehive valve springs, just like the LS V8's. Not bad for a 2-valve pushrod engine.

Is that schmutz on the outer portion of the rockerbox floor baked carbon or varnish?

It's just oil sitting in there - I cleaned it with a rug. No carbon is visible at all.
