GMC Canyon rolled over 200,000 miles. While changing spark plugs found valve cover gasket leaking at #3 and #5 spark plug holes. Engine has had OCI of 10,000 miles since new. First 150,000 was on Supertech 5W-30 Full Synthetic. Last 50,000 was on ConocoPhillips.

Thank u for the pics. My canyon has only 82k miles and I’m looking fwd to running it to 200k to. Looks like ST oil did good

This has been an excellent vehicle, extremely reliable. Don't be surprised though if your valve cover gasket on the atlas engines starts seeping. The gasket hardens up due to heat and age. I went back with a Felpro blue silicone gasket. It was not only cheaper than GM part but I'm hoping it will eliminate leaks in the future. To change this gasket can be a PITA. you have loosen the intake manifold to remove all valve cover bolts.

My gaskets are the same as GMC 1500 trucks = been pretty good.
Think the intake gaskets need replacement if you keep them a long time …

I never had any issues w any felpro gaskets I’ve used. Have used them on many of my past vehicles and current. Will keep an eye out for gasket leaks

This is good to know. I've always liked them.

They seem to get a bad rep on the web though.. Maybe by those with no experience with them?

Owned a similar Colorado for a bit. I can't say I loved it because it was a very base model truck with an automatic transmission being the only option, but while the tranny went out at 70k miles (who knows how it was treated, I wasn't the first owner) I'm confident I would have made it to 200K if I would have kept it.

Biggest complaint has always been the interior … mine is OK as an SLT (heated leather etc) … but not comparable to full size PU interiors …

Transmission fluid change at 200,000 miles. Transmission was previously serviced at 50,000 and 100,000.
