2006 Acura tsx oil question?

Have a question for experts.

I used Pennzoil Platinum 5w30 in the car, oil change light from OLM came after nearly 3500 miles, while doing highway, stop and go traffic and some short trips of grocery runs.

Should i stick to 5-6k OCI or follow OLM strictly ?

Also any SN and SL oil are safe to use in it? Thanks for help.

I would follow the OLM or change every 5K miles, whichever is the shorter interval. Oil is cheap. Use a Fram Ultra for at least two intervals.

My opinion is you can go farther. Likely and easily the 5K mentioned above

How does the oil look on a blotter drip test?

How is the oil usage?

Were you thinking of a MB229.51 ACEA 5W40 with your API "SL" question?

We have a 2006 TSX with 190K that we bought new. I also service 2 other TSXs.
Our car has had a steady diet of Mobil 1 5w30.
For a while I used 5w20, based on the dealer's service recommendation.
Once I accidentially dumped in Idemitsu 0w20. Dang thing ran great.
I am back to 5w30 High Mileage.

I have used Mobil 1, Wix and Fram XG filters.
I generally service the engine oil at the 20% mark.
And the transmission every 25K miles. Car is perfect.

Your car was probably spec'd for SM. SN is what is recommended now. SL? Hard to find and not recommended. ANY SN would be fine.

3.5k sounds short. Was the OLM reset after the last oil change? That vehicle on that oil should have easily gone 10k or one year. I like 5k OC. Easy to remember.

Thank you, was going to use this motor craft oil, 10W30.

If the light came on at 3500, you need to change it

That is a very short OCI for something suggested by the MM

Yes, SN and SL are safe to use

I keep a reasonably large stash, but your bottle of MC looks about 10-12 years old.
