Looking for oil recommendations for 2005 Chrysler T&C 3.8L.
Currently has 125000 on the clock. I have owned since new. Up till 75k or so it was bulk Pennzoil 5w20 conventional with a generic filter, 3k oci. After that I've tried Mobil 1 Advanced Fuel Economy 0w-20, but it burned too much of that for my taste. Mobil 1 5w-20 is what I settled on after that. I've been using 6k oci's on synth, with either a Mobil 1 or Bosch filter, depending on the AZ/AAP special of the month. looking for at least 6k oci's. Don't have any used oil analysis for this engine. Currently burns about a quart in 6k.

Thanks in advance.

I'm running Mobil 1 5w20 in my Caravan right now. Mine has the 3.3 which is pretty much the same as the 3.8. I also have tried Quaker State Ultimate durability and liked that as well. The Quaker State Ultimate Durability is pretty stout and you can get it at Wal Mart for around $21. These engines aren't too picky about oil, they just have a tendency to burn a little bit. For awhile, Chrysler was recommending up to 6 mo/7500 OCI for conventional oil and they backed it down to 6 mo/6k. I bet you could probably do 7500 pretty easily on just about any synthetic, especially with those occasional top offs.

I'd rather stay away from high mileage oils as long as possible. It isn't leaking any oil. At least not crankcase oil.

Stupid rack seals. I might try 7500 on the next fill, I just wish the factory service reminder would go that high.

Anyone know any regular synthetic formulas that magically don't make it past the rings?
