IMHO the SSO you are running now will exhibit better consumption control than any off the shelf 10W30 grade, but if you want to step down to a dino or other synthetic to save a few $$ then a 10W30 wouldn't disappear as rapidly. 5W30 must just taste better!
yeah i hope the sso controls the conumption better {for the price it should!} i just have never had a new car use oil before. i hope the motor is ok it has never been rodded or anything like that and always maintained with mobil 1 now amsoil.
That consumption rate isn't very much at all. Blow by and valve guides could account for most of it. Relax and enjoy your SSO fill. I love that stuff for gas motors!
well the whole time i think i have been checking the oil wrong!manaul states check when warm and oil has had time to drain down well i have been doing it after it sits overnight from my recent tests it sure makes a differnce on the dipstick! oh well live and learn
well i have a little over 4000 miles on the sso oil change and its burned almost a quart is this acceaptible with this engine and oil. car has 29750 on it now.. thanks
