An acura tech friend of mine informed me the reason for Honda stating no transmission flushes was that most of their transmissions have an internal filter/screen and when a flush chemical is introduced the accumulate junk can really create a nasty scenerio inside of the tranny which often leads to failure.

That being said, a fluid exchange through the cooler line should do little to disturb the internal screen. I have perfromed countless fluid exchanges on honda/acura vehicles will only positive results. When will this old wives tale reagarding straight trans flushing finally die?

Here is a link to the Honda bulletin that clarifies how to perform the AT drain/fill procedure:

"NOTE: The term “flushing” refers to repeatedly draining and refilling the trans with Honda Genuine ATF-Z1. Don’t confuse it with aftermarket flush systems. American Honda still strongly recommends that you avoid using them on any Honda vehicle."
