my 2005 corolla has 130,000 on it and I am thinking using QS DEFY in it at the next oil change.

I have been using QSGB in it.

Yes, you certainly can use DEFY but, if you have NO leaks or burning of oil, I'd stay with QSGB or any other regular/conventional motor oil.

Defy is a very good oil. Can you tell us more about the Corolla's engine and maintenance intervals?

We have an 07 Corolla S and have started using Pennzoil Synthetic blend and man does it work well. The motor is much smoother and quieter than it ever was with GTX that was used since we got it new. I'd give that a shot if I were u. Great oil.

I agree, I wouldn't change a thing

Andy, oil is the one thing whose past performance predicts future capabilities...

Other than gas, it's the engine 'part' you renew most often and so long as you continue to do so as you've been doing and record no change in its performance (e.g. consumption) then stay the course.

I am on my second 1ZZ-FE 1.8L engine, 2008 Corolla and a 2007 Vibe. I believe these engines will run on about anything reliably. I typically use PYB, QS Dino, Formula Shell, in the summer and QSUD in the winter. Have never had to add oil in either vehicles (125,000 miles). Wish they still made this engine as it is extremely reliable and very easy to work on.

I do 4,000 mile/4 months as this car is 100% short trip, stop and go city driving. For the winter oil change, I do it in November and run it through end of March.

Have run every oil filter out there and they all work fine. QS filter, Fram Extra Guard, Tough Guard, Pure One, Classic Purolator, etc.
