A friend mentioned their 2005 Camry drops to low RPM when stopped. They have to give it throttle to keep it from dying at times. AC can be on or off, clutch in or out, in gear with clutch in or neutral. Intermittent but becoming more common. Any ideas? I rattled off about 100 LOL Thinking maybe it's one of those "common issues" and someone knows. Otherwise it could be about anything random...

Somewhat common on those. Try this:

Pull the intake boot off to get access to the throttle plate. Clean it as well as you can, with the ignition off.

Once it's clean, use your finger to hold the throttle blade closed while a helper turns on the ignition (DO NOT CRANK THE ENGINE!). Once the ignition is turned on, release pressure from throttle plate. You may feel some pressure from the throttle plate when the ignition is turned on, that's normal.

Leave the ignition on, and reinstall the intake boot and airbox. Turn ignition off for 10 seconds.

Start the car, and let it idle until the cooling fans come on. AC off, all loads off. That should relearn the idle air value.

I run into this all the time at work. Toyota electronic throttle's are very sensitive to changes in learned air flow. Just disconnecting the battery can throw them off.

Dirty throttle body. Get some CRC t-body cleaner at Walmart, etc... Look for some youtube videos on cleaning procedure. Let idle afterwards for 5 mins for idle re-learn as mentioned earlier.

Walmart TLE has a good fuel induction cleaning service for $20 or $10 if you get a basic oil change. The $30 oil change plus $10 for fuel cleaning service. Might be a good one-two punch for it. They use Valvoline Professional Fuel System cleaner. One can of cleaner goes into the gas tank and another can of aerosol cleaner is sprayed into the intake system. Stand near the garage to watch them so they don't rev the heck out of it. My friend who works there told me all this.

I believe the Toyota dealers charge $50 for a t-body cleaning so that's another option. They work on these cars all the time so they usually know the best approach.

When I had this on my 02 camry after I did the clutch (disconnecting the battery), I found it didn't stall if I threw it in neutral at 55 mph. (Dashpot.) So I coasted down to zero in neutral and it figured it out. What puzzles me though is once it learned, it learned, and I had no more issues.

I would as suggested make sure the MAF is 100% and there are no vacuum leaks after it.

Time for a throttle relearn - when I replace a battery, I like to keep the ignition on for 30 seconds in KOEO(deadhead) and then let it idle until operating temp or the fans cycle to relearn the throttle zero point and fuel trim.

Doesn't hurt to clean the throttle plate and check the plugs.

4 cyl, or 6? I had a 02 Camry 2.4L, it never seemed to have enough idle up power to stay smooth when the AC kicked in. TB cleaning, plugs, IMG, new PCV all helped. But its main issue was oil consumption. Would foul again shortly after i made things nice.

And Toyota does know about the oil consumption on the 2.4L engine - there's a few TSBs out and they covered new pistons and rings for certain models under warranty.
