Hello everyone, I just had several old seals replaced in my 2004 Mazda 6 and was thinking of switching over to Mazda's 0W-20 after seeing a VOA on it (Lots of Moly and Boron looked good to me...). Anyone here see problems with going from the recommended 5W-20 to 0W? Or due to the age and miles of the vehcile go to a good 5W-30?

Thanks!

0w20 would be a fantastic choice! Hope you can fine the Mazda Moly 0w20, its super expensive online and my dealer doesnt seem to have it. Other 0w20's are TGMO 0w20, M1 0w20, PP 0w20...all great choices.

Yep, the key with the Mazda oil 0w-20 is to get it at a dealer at reasonable price. I called a couple and notice vastly diff prices, got it for $8 per quart, not cheap, but cheaper than others.

Great. I thought I saw some on Amazon but I'll have to check the labeling again. Also there's a pretty large Mazda dealer in Sacramento that may have it.

Not much advantage to 0w20 vs 5w20 synthetic in most California climate, but going from mineral 5w20 to synthetic 0w20 you will gain many benefits.

If you are concerned about age/consumption i would try Mobil 1 High Mileag 5w20.

If you have no leaks/consumption, i would try Mobil 1 AFE 0w20 available at most Walmarts for about $25 per 5 quart jug.

She's been good to us other than the seals which have been replaced. I definitely like your idea of a more obtainable 0w20 but I really wanted to try mazda's after seeing what it looks like on paper. I also have some PUP 5w30 in the garage just staring at me...
