2003 Suburban Z71

Just purchased this vehicle. Receipts shows oil changes that average around 2k since it was new. The owner stated that he used Pennzoil in it for a long time but then let the local shop change it and he wasnt sure what they used.
In my last suburban i used Mobil 1 High Mileage every 5k as that is what the previous owner had used.
Im a little worried about changing over to synthetic w/ 125,000 miles so Ill probably stay w/ c oil. It is a 5.3L. Wife drives it 3 days a week and averages about 130 miles weekly. We make 3 trips a year @ 1500 miles each, round trip.
What oil and filter would you recommend? Also any other wisdom such as air filter choice would be appreciated!
While alot of the info hear is over my head I have learned alot from my hours reading through the threads.

I just found out that the engine had been serviced every 2k with Service Pro Syn Blend since 95k.

I've been using Valvoline Synpower 5-30 in my wife's Tahoe with the 5.3 for 7 years and 95K miles. Vehicle uses approximately 1/4 quart every 3 K miles and runs as new. UOA is A-OK as well.
Oil change intervals have been 5000-7500 miles
If you have an oil life monitor (OLM) reset it when you change the oil --it is one of the functions on the steering wheel.
