2002 Touota 4Runner 3.4L

Hi group...noob here! Found this forum through Yota Tech and love it so far! Here's hopefully a simple question. I'm using Toyota brand conventional oil and filter currently, and put about 18k miles on per year. About 75% in town and 25% road driving. Does it pay to switch to synthetic? If so, what brand should I look at most and what brand of filter? Thanks!

How many miles are your oil changes? Why do you want to switch to syn oil?

Usually betweem 3 and 4k with conventional oil. I really just hoping to extend the duration between changes and add some protection. Any ideas?

Ive got the same motor after in my 2002 tacoma since new i was running redline 5W30 till 45K with 5K change intervals then i used amsoil 5W30 till 50K and now im using amsoil series 3K. Now im going to use castrol 0W30 either green or gold with some LC20 and change the oil every six months about 7,500 miles or so. Doing an analysis will only tell you what works best.
