There are pics of where the fill plug is on the top of the trans on odyclub, too.

I didn't have time to go through each receipt, but on most of them I saw the normal dealer jargon about checking for recalls. So they did check for recalls on most dealer visits. His 50k invoice had the trans recall noted, but it just said it was 'complied with', so, yeah, I'd have to check physically for the squirter.

My daily driver is an 01 A6 2.7T. It's been reliable, but it would be nice to have a backup vehicle for if/when the Audi lets me down.

Bound to be some day....

Jasper units look pretty expensive, I don't think you can cash and carry either? I think the way to go might be to find a working trans from a salvage yard, then have it rebuilt at a trans shop willing to install outside parts, using a pick list documented on the Honda forums. Let it sit on a crate in the garage and wait for a failure, or, perhaps a nice spring/summer weekend with friends+beer and get it done.

Drive it, but have something saved in case there is any kind of major repair that pops up. You have to expect them. To me though, it doesn't sound like you'll find better.

Pretty good summary.

If you use the van on a occasional basis and add low miles to it over the years (3000 or so) my guess is it will last you at least another 4 or 5 years.

Can't be done. The computer won't let you do this.

OK. Because the new ones are 5AT and this 02 is a 4AT?

If the recall was done around the 50k mile mark and it now has 220k miles, I think you're in the clear.

Don't sell the Audi short on reliability. The APB motor is a really good motor in its stock form. The only real issue would be the ICMs on the top of the air filter housing, as they are a known weak spot in the ignition system. As long as you change the oil on a regular basis, it will last a good long time.

I've got the BEL 2.7t which eliminates the ICM for coil on plugs that have the ICM integrated in the coil. I'm at 167k now and have been running stage 1 since 135k. I plan on getting 250k out of this sled before I'd consider moving on from it.
