Hello all,

My wifes daily driver is a 2001 Subaru Forester. It has about 65,000 miles on it. When we got it in 2004 t had 41,000.

I have heard that older engines are not good candidates for switching to synthetics . Does this engine count as old? As long as I have had it it has received fairly regular maintenance, not every 3000 miles on the dot but regular.

What oil should I be running synthetic or conventional.

Thanks in advance,

Tim

Synthetic should be fine in that application. I switched at 130k in my 12-1/2 year old Integra to Group IV Amsoil

I run Amsiol in my diesel Landcruiser...so I will probably go with Amsiol, 5 W30 living in Seattle should do the ticket yes?
